As is becoming tradition for me – a quick roundup of my favourite books from this year:
- 2312 – Kim Stanley Robinson – This has to be my standout. While some find Robinson’s descriptions somewhat long-winded, I don’t remember reading any other ‘future histories’ that feel as fleshed out and vivid. Absolutely captivating, surprising and a perfect cousin to the Mars Trilogy.
- Old Twentieth – Joe Haldemann
- Cabin Porn – Zach Klein (the co-founder of Vimeo interestingly enough)
- Piers of the Homeless Night – Jack Kerouac
- Create Dangerously – Albert Camus
- The Vanishing American Hobo – Jack Kerouac
- Defense of Intelligence – Albert Camus
- Born Under Mars – John Brunner
- Not Before Time – John Brunner
- City of Illusions – Ursula K. Le Guin
- The Left Hand of Darkness – Ursula K. Le Guin
- Orbital – Samantha Harvey
Happy reading and Happy New Year 🍾
